Edinburgh Airport has grown considerably in the last ten years, now boasting direct flights to America as well as plenty of European and British destinations. With its growth it has lost the pleasant provincial airport user-friendly operation that it used to enjoy but it is still relatively hassle free. The only recomendation is to avoid booking luggage through Heathrow in London if making connections there as you tend to arrive in Edinburgh without your bags! Efficient bus service to the City Centre terminates outside Waverley train station next to Princes Street.
