Discover Royal Deeside
Royal Deeside is the area that runs West from Aberdeen along the river Dee to Braemar towards Glenshee that includes the 'Royal' town of Ballater and the Queen's summer residence at Balmoral Castle. The land is fertile and littered with rugged castle ruins and noble country houses with spectacular gardens and ancient standing stones. Many visitors come in the summer months to experience the Victorian Heritage Trail that visits Queen Victoria's favourite places. The scenery is breathtaking.
Things to do in Royal Deeside
Corrie Fee is one of the suite of Cairngorms National Nature Reserves and lies within Cairngorms National Park. Accessed from the South Angus side of the National Park.
The Crathes Castle is set against a magnificent garden with its world-renowned June border.
Glenshee Skiing and Summer Activities
Glenshee is Scotland's second biggest ski area that is easily accessed beside the Braemar road
Balmoral Castle is a large manor house situated halfway between the towns of Braemar and Ballater, on the banks of the River Dee, in the Scottish region of Aberdeenshire, also known as Royal Deeside. The property was purchased by Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Queen Victoria's husband, and remains a favorite summer residence of the British Royal Family.
