Expand Search: All Rothesay and Cowal Accommodation (4)Rothesay is the principle town on the Isle of Bute, which has a wonderful location dominating the entrance to the Clyde. From Bute a small ferry at Colintraive makes the hop over to the Cowal penninsula which like much of Argyll is stunningly beautiful. As part of a tour of Argyll there is much to recommend in taking the Portavadie to Tarbert ferry from off the Cowal penninsula to Kintyre and then travelling on to Islay.
Private small hotels can (though not as a rule!) be the best and most exclusive accommodation to be found anywhere in Britain and are often to be found in converted country houses in the most beautiful gardens or on mini-estates. They can usually be booked on a full-board or Bed and Breakfast basis but expect tariffs to be at the more expensive end of the market. Learn more about accommodation types
