Tiree is reknown for is sandy beaches and attracting an above average amount of sunshine and is recommended for quiet unspoilt holidays for those wanting to get away from the bustle of civilisation and a safe environment for children to play. It is mostly low-lying with a nice higher viewpoint at the western end. Coll is about the same size as Tiree and features the excellent Coll Hotel. It, too, is known for its beaches, but also has standing stones and a souterrain.
