Tourist Attractions in Dingwall

The gem of the region is the spa town of Strathpeffer that was made popular by the Victorians on the discovery of sulphurous springs in the village. The Strathpeffer hotel still has a grandeur that seems incongruous in such a small place and the Pavilion has now been restored to be a magnificent venue for art exhibitions, weddings and other events. It is greatly recommended to drive slowly from Ullapool on the A835 stopping at the signposted recommendations for salmon leaping spots, gorges and scenic viewpoints. A visit to Moniack Castle south of the Beauly Firth is also recommended.

  • The main tourist attractions in and around Strathpeffer are the restored Victorian Pump room (where the sulphurous waters were drunk upon which the town became famous), Rogie Falls a few miles up the road, The Touchstone Maze, The Eagle Stone, Castle Leod, The Neil Gunn Memorial and The Highland Museum of Childhood
