Churches in North East Scotland

North-East is the Private House Stays name given to the Area of Aberdeenshire that runs from Angus, up the East coast to the Moray Firth and bordered by the Cairngorms to the West. It is an area steeped in history seemingly with every village containing an ancient castle and grand estates everywhere. The area includes Royal Deeside, the Queen's summer palace at Balmoral, Speyside and a concentration of much of Scotland's whisky industry.

  • Aberdeenshire has many churches and considerable religious history that will include Abbeys, ancient monastries and other religious heritage sites. Private House Stays recommends the following for your consideration: Deer Abbey (ruins), Fyvie Church, Kinkell Church (ruins), Marnoch Old Church and Tarves Medieval Tomb
