Fishing in Scotland

Scotland

About

Scotland is a dream destination for the angler. The stunning landscapes and ever changing light, provide epic backdrops to enjoy fishing experiences. It's rare to encounter another angler, when enjoying the rivers and lochs of Scotland. You can enjoy space, solitude and freedom.

There are fishing experiences to suit everyone, from loch fishing for wild trout in the hill lochs, to chasing the king of fish, the Atlantic Salmon.  Scotland's waters are home to several species; salmon, sea trout, wild brown trout, grayling, pike, rainbow trout and a multitude of saltwater species.

It’s possible to fish in Scotland all year, as fisheries stocked with rainbow trout have no close season. Pike and grayling fishing are available in the winter too. The trout fisheries are excellent venues to learn to fly fish, with instruction by qualified guides and fishing tackle provided at all of these venues.

Scotland also boasts over 400 salmon rivers, from the Big 4 Scottish rivers to the smaller spate rivers throughout the country.  The largest of these is the River Tay, one of the best salmon rivers in Europe  The Tay fishing season stretches from 15th January to 15th October.

In addition to game angling, Scotland provides a great range of coarse and sea-fishing options. Sea fishing boats can be chartered  and there are enviable shore fishing options too. Southern Scotland offers some of the best pike fishing lochs in the UK. These hard fighting predators, can be caught on the fly, lure or bait all year round.
