East Sutherland
East Sutherland lies north of the Dornoch firth until the start of Caithness above Brora. The county also stetches westwards to Ullapool although its definition can be a bit confusing as most of it has a Inverness-shire postcode and is thus identified by Private House Stays as North Highlands. The area has some good farming land as well as the usual beautiful highland scenery, dotted with whisky distilleries, lochs, rivers and mountains. Dornoch, Tain, Golspie and Brora are all highland towns with their own interesting histories and culture. Dornoch has a world famous championship golf course, the bird watching and coastal scenery are spectacular and the Falls of Shin are also recommended for a visit.
