The bay stretches for more than 2 miles, altogether avoiding natural scenery, providing you with great opportunities for sunbathing, boating, swimming, and other beach sports. The beach is a haven for surfers and can give some quite dramatic surfing in high winds. The bay has excellent opportunities for wildlife discovery, and the visitor center at the northern end provides the details that can be seen. They are a haven for many species of seabirds, including oystercatchers, eiders, curls, and ringed overs. The beach is also an excellent place to find shells with many snails and razor shells.
