Old Pulteney Distillery

Caithness

About

Although it was located on the mainland, when it was established in 1826, the distillery was not accessible by land. It was supplied with grain by ship, and the whisky was taken to the distillery in the same way. At that time, most of the workers at the distillery were also fishermen.

Today the distillery is owned by Inver House Distillers, who also own Glenlivet or Balblair. It holds one wash still and one spirit still and produces about 1 million liters of pure alcohol per year.

Old Pulteney produces a single malt sold both in the official version and by independent bottlers.
