With it's breathtaking scenery Scotland is no stranger to a film set. From the big Cities to it's beachs and highlands, the big screen has showcased it love for this country many a time. In this tour it is your chance for you and your family to discover some of these iconic locations. We advise that you start in Edinburgh where Trainspotting was filmed. Rosslyn Chappel featured in the Da Vinici Code is short twenty minutes drive from Edinburgh city centre. An hour west of Edinburgh you can visit Doune Castle where the famous Monty Python's The holy grail was filmed. Onwards travelling west through the iconic Scottish landscape to Glencoe and the Glenfinnan Viaduct you can see locations from the Harry Potter films, Braveheart and Highlander. If you have more time on your hands then you can head west again to the beatiful Camusdarach beach, subject of Bill Forsyth's Local Hero.

Rosslyn Chappel - The Da Vinci Code

Rosslyn Chapel is said to be one of the most mysterious places in Scotland. Subject of multiple legends and stories spanning four hundred years it acheived world wide fame for it's appearence in Dan Brown's novel and the subsequent big screen production and is well worth the visit. The Chapel is open every day of the year except 24th, 25th and 31st of December and 1st of January. Opening hours are 9h30 to 17h30 Monday to Saturday and midday to 16h30 Sunday.

Edinburgh - Trainspotting

Overflowing with culture and history Edinburgh is a magical city to discover. You might choose to spend a day or a week here. Doune Castle - Monty Python & The Holy Grail

This 14th century castle festures a 100ft high gatehouse and one of the best kept great halls in Scotland. Originally built for the Regents of the Kingdom of Scotland it has since been used as a location in numerous film productions. Since having been featured as the infamous french castle in Monty python's, The holy grail, it has also been featured in the BBC's production of Ivanhoe and the recent series Outlander.

Glencoe - Harry Potter, James Bond - Skyfall, Braveheart

With appearences in Harry Potter, James Bond and Braveheart; Glencoe is probably the area in Scotland which is most widely seen on the big screens, and for good reasons. It features world famous scenery and activities suited for every lover of the outdoors. Glencoe has to be one of the highlights of any trip to Scotland.

Glenfinnan Viaduct - Harry Potter

The Jacobite railway is described as one of the great railway journeys of the world this 84 mile round trip takes you past a list of impressive extremes. Starting near the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis, it passes close by the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar; finally arriving next to the deepest seawater loch in Europe, Loch Nevis. This train line was featured as Hogwarts express in all of the Harry Potter films. You can experience iconic locations from the film in the same train used on set! Time permitting you can take a ferry onwards to the Isle of Skye.

Camusdarach Beach - Local Hero

“Could have been the Carribean” reads a review on Trip Advisor. Camusdarach beach features white sand, crystaline water and stunning scenery. This is undoubtedly one of Scotland's most beautiful beaches, and is portrayed as such in Bill Forsyth's award winning film Local Hero.
