The Saddle (Munro)

The mountain offers exciting and challenging climbing opportunities. Crossing the Forcan Ridge - in winter or summer - is one of the classic Scottish mountain expeditions. The name of the mountain refers to the shape of the summit ridge as seen from Glen Shiel, with the twin peaks and the intermediate peak resembling a saddle. Its Gaelic name was initially known as An Dìollaid Mountain, but this has been lost through the everyday use of its English translation, and it is now one of the few mountains in the Scottish Highlands to have an English name.
