The main site is closed for major renovations until Spring 2022, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Orkney Islands Council, Historic Environment Scotland, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Museums Galleries Scotland, LEADER and NatureScot.

There is a comprehensive exhibition about the wartime history of Scapa Flow available online – please see the ‘Related Links’ section below. Leaflets for a self-guided trail around the wartime remains at Lyness are available from tourist information offices and the Lyness Ferry Waiting Room.
