About

In the beginning, St Magnus Cathedral is fund by a Viking named Earl Rognvald. He did that to pay tribute to his uncle Magnus, who died as a martyr in Kirkwall and get canonized in 1135. Since when we celebrate St Magnus day on April 16th.

Over the years, the Cathedral's faithful have come from various backgrounds, from the Roman Catholic Church to the Scottish Episcopal Church or the Presbyterian Church.

You will have the opportunity to feel and see how this illustrious heritage has marked this place's life over the years. During your visit, you will admire the incredible architectural details and have a time of worship if you are a believer.
