Forty years of highland steam railway travel The Strathspey Railway Company invites you to board our train this year and help celebrate 40 years of recovery from steam travel through the Scottish Highlands. 
In 1978, a group of dedicated volunteers cheered up again. The restored part of this 10-mile-long original high subway line allows you to go back in time. The sirens sounded, and the car doors closed suddenly. The click sound. The loud rhythmic sound of the train as it travels along the tracks.
