Muirfield is a private links golf course that is the home of The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. Located in Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland, and overlooking Firth of Forth, Muirfield was once one of the courses where the British Open is played in rotation.

Muirfield had hosted the British Open on 15 occasions, most recently in 2013 when Phil Mickelson won. Other Open winners at Muirfield include Nick Faldo (twice), Ernie Els, Tom Watson, Lee Trevino, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Henry Cotton, Alf Perry, Walter Hagen, Harry Vardon, and Harold Hilton. Muirfield has also been the venue for the British Open Amateur ten times and the Ryder Cup in 1973, the Walker Cup in 1959 and 1979, the Curtis Cup 1952 and 1984, and many other major tournaments.
