The jounrey up Mount Keen, the most easterly Munro, is a moderate walk most popularly started by mountain bike riding from Aboyne though the the Caledonian pine forest of Glen Tanar. This offers a more scenic route; another, quicker route is accessible from Glen Esk. 

On a clear day, the summit offers wonderful views of the Cairngorms, especially Lochnagar. The mountain stands at 3081ft and its peak is marked by a trig point.
