Lunderston Bay

Inverclyde

About

The bay is about 1 mile (1.6 km) from north to south at its widest point. At low tide, most of the coast at the southern end of the bay is exposed, revealing rocks and shingles. On the beach at the north end of the bay, the tidal effect is not apparent. Lunderston Burn enters Firth of Clyde to the north end of the bay.

The northern end of the bay has a famous beach, picnic area, and a wheelchair-accessible playground. The ranger station, toilets, and parking lot of the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park are located here (the northern end of the bay is in the area Park, but not at the southern end). Lunderston Bay is the designated bathing water, and the overall water quality is good during the bathing season.
