It is the venue for the Gourock Highland Games, held on the second Sunday in May, and provides recreational facilities for all family members. 
Young children can play in the pet corner and spacious play area, while mom and dad can play with various plants and bushes in the walled garden. 
The upper park has a large area, including two grass football fields, a cricket square, and a pavilion with changing facilities. There are also two-blade courts on the west side of Gourock Park. 
The park has good transportation links to railways, buses, and ferries.
