The huge fish market may be the main focus of the town. Other tourist attractions include the highland stoneware, one of the most successful and unique potteries in the highlands. In the inland areas near Elphin, visitors can visit animals at the Highland and Rare Breeds Farm. Experienced climbers can even try to scale Suilven’s characteristic sandstone peaks. To the south of Lochinver, there is a vast coastal road leading to Achiltbuie.

To the rear of Lochinver is a beautiful part of Assynt, where local tourism and nature reserves have been developed along with small forestry activities. Lochinver’s notable birds include the curlew, oystercatcher, and hooded crow.
