Iona Abbey is located on the island of Iona, close to the Isle of Mull's coast on the west side of Scotland. It is one of the oldest and most important religious centers in Western Europe. The monastery played a role in spreading the Christian faith throughout Scotland. The monastery bears traces of St. Columba of Iona's monastic community, which was part of Dal Riada's kingdom at the time.
