Ben Nevis Distillery

Fort William

About

Ben Nevis Distillery is named after the highest mountain in the UK, north of Fort William. Founded in 1825 by John MacDonald, it is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland and a popular attraction in Fort William. Ben Nevis was the first distillery to provide both malt and grain whisky. The water used for the whisky comes from Allt a' Mhuilinn flowing on the north face of Ben Nevis.

The distillery is owned since 1989 by the Japanese company Nikka Whisky Distilling Co. Ltd.
