About
Karen and Alick are delighted to welcome you to their home in Grantown on Spey. Mount Barker, built in 1890, has undergone a complete refurbishment and offers luxurious modern accommodation enhanced with the ambience of days gone by. It is an attractive, three-storey dwelling situated in a one-acre plot, less than a two-minute walk from Grantown high street.
Grantown-on-Spey is a beautiful town in Scotland that offers visitors a range of activities and attractions. The Cairngorms Nation Park has a great choice of eleven golf courses with nine and eighteen holes. The closest to Mount Barker is west of the park which are nine-hole courses Carrbridge, Craggan and Abernethy Golf club. The local courses in Grantown are only a few minutes' walk from Mount Barker, with beautiful scenic views. Your hosts Karen and Alec are members at The Boat of Garten, set against the backdrop of the breathtaking Cairngorm, the course described as the Glen Eagles of the Highlands.
Beautiful historic castles also tell stories of Royal feuds, dotted around the Cairngorms National Park and headed towards Inverness. From only half an hour away from Mount Barker, you can visit the Culloden Battlefield and stand on the windswept moor where the Jacobites made their final stand. You can also find another famous castle within easy reach of Mount Barker: Balmoral Castle, thirty-eight miles, one hour and ten minutes by car. Braemar Castle is forty-five minutes, one hour and fifteen minutes by car, and Cawdor Castle is twenty-three miles and forty minutes by car.
If you are a whisky lover, then Mount Barker is the perfect location to stay as they have The Malt Whisky Trail on their doorstep, and it's the only trail of its kind in the world. All within easy access to Mount Barker, the route takes you to seven world-famous working distilleries, one historic distillery and the great Speyside Cooperage. Speyside is famous for its extraordinary whisky and is also known as the Malt Whisky Country.
Grantown-on-Spey is a perfect destination for those looking to relax and enjoy the great outdoors while also experiencing Scotland's rich history and culture.

Things to know
Cancellation.
Cancellations with 14 days or more will not incur any charges. All cancellations must be made in writing via email and are only valid once confirmed by Mount Barker Bed & Breakfast. In the event of a non-show or booking reduction (after arrival) the full cost of the booking will be charged
Check-in and check-out.
Check-in is from 4.00 pm – 7.00 pm. In the event of arrival after 7.00 pm, please notify us in advance so arrangements can be made to accommodate this. We reserve the right to charge a maximum of £15 for this service. Check-out is by 10.30 am.
Cleaning.
Whilst we understand accidents sometimes occur, please be aware that permanent damage (staining on carpets, bedclothes or damage to furniture) will incur a charge for professional cleaning or replacement or if loss of earnings occurs. The responsibility for the cost will be that of the lead name on the original booking.
