The Garden Plant Center itself is located in a historic walled garden built by John Campbell around 1790. It is unusual in design because of its octagonal shape. 
The mild climate of the Gulf Stream and the slightly acidic soil has allowed many plants to thrive. 
The Garden Plant Center sells a variety of plants, including many unusual types.
