Inverewe Garden
Wester Ross
About
The garden was established by the Scottish landlord Osgood Mackenzie in 1862 and is located on 850 hectares of land that his mother bought for him. The original Investewe Lodge was destroyed by fire in 1914 and was replaced by the current Investewe House in 1937.
The garden covers an area of 20 hectares and contains more than 2500 exotic plants and flowers. There is also an area of 800 hectares for recreation and nature protection. In 1952, Mairi Sawyer, Osgood's daughter, donated the garden and land to the National Trust for Scotland and carried out future maintenance.
