The Townhouse Kelso

A Bed and Breakfast in Scottish Borders

Photo - The Townhouse Kelso

The house is Georgian and has lots of original features, it’s been tastefully modernised and is full of creature comforts. A selection of well appointed rooms accommodating up to eight on a Bed and Breakfast basis are available to book. The rooms all have TV, WI-FI, comfortable mattresses and tea and coffee making facilities. Sadly we do not cater for pets or young children.

Kelso is a delightful Border town boasting a lovely cobbled square and a host of activities for everyone. For the angler fishing opportunities abound on both The Tweed and The Teviot. For the Golfer The Roxburghe is ten minutes away. There is a charming Race Course voted the friendliest in the UK. Historic Houses are near, notably Floors Castle, Mellerstain and Abbotsford. St Cuthberts and The Pennine Way both favourites with walking enthusiasts are easily reached from Kelso. As the house overlooks the square a birds eye view of the annual Border Common Riding festivities is available.

The Private House Stay's Guide

Scottish Borders

This is a region which is drenched in the blood of countless battles with the English, and its many ruined castles and abbeys bear witness to this. It also has inspired the country's greatest poets and writers such as Robert Burns, John Buchan and Sir Walter Scott. The wildest and most spectacular scenery is to be found in the southern part of the region, but it is along the central valley of the River Tweed, between Peebles in the west and Kelso in the east, where you'll find most of the historic attractions. The hill walking and spa-town atmosphere of Peebles is recommended.
