Surrounded by beautiful coastal scenic views of the Scottish Highlands, peaceful and remote, Doune sits at the water’s edge on the Western tip of the remote Knoydart peninsula. Enjoy Doune’s warm, welcoming, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Help and advice is on hand to ensure you get the most out of your stay, and Doune’s boats provide access to the surrounding area.

Stone Lodge accommodation is offered full-board with a minimum three-night stay. Bed, breakfast, packed lunches and dinner in the award winning Doune Dining Room are all included in prices. Fitted out in an individually pine-clad design, the Stone Lodge rooms offer ensuite accommodation with additional beds for accompanying children.

Around the bay, Doune Bay Lodge provides accommodation for larger groups of up-to 12 people. With optional use of our fast boat Mary Doune, this offers the possibility for groups to explore the Small Isles and wider area around Knoydart. For information about bringing groups to Doune, please enquire with Andy and Liz Tibbetts directly on 01687 462656 or by email [email protected]

Whether staying in the Stone Lodges or Doune Bay Lodge, beautiful, freshly prepared food in the Doune Dining Room will be the perfect end of your day.

The Private House Stay's Guide

Knoydart

Knoydart is a rugged, isolated peninsula of some 40,000 acres in west Lochaber. Situated between Loch Nevis and Loch Hourn and looking out west towards the southern part of Skye and Small Isles, most of the peninsula is a designated National Scenic Area. Home to some 120 people, the main centre of habitation is in Inverie. Isolated from the road network, access is on foot or by boat; there is regular public ferry service between Mallaig and Inverie. With three Munros, several Corbetts, and a beautiful coastline, Knoydart is popular with walkers, wildlife enthusiasts and sailors. The land is divided between several estates. The main part is managed by the community run Knoydart Foundation who provide a ranger service, bunkhouse and shop. Facilities in Inverie include a community shop, tea room, pub, and several guest houses.
