About

Nestled at the bottom of the Lammermuir Hills on the outskirts of the village of Garvald is the beautiful Tanderlane. This stunning Georgian Farmhouse is owned by the warm and welcoming Niall and Sarah Donaldson; with all the amenities you could need and more, your stay with them will be full of memories that will last a lifetime.

If you want a perfectly placed house for exploring what Scotland has to offer and that is isolated enough for you to rest and relax when you are done adventuring, then look no further than Tanderlane.

About the property

With six bedrooms on the property, there are lots of choices when deciding what suits you best. Three bedrooms are fitted with ensuites, and the remaining three share two fully furnished bathrooms. All bedrooms are equipped with White Company bed linen; guest comfort is paramount, exemplified by the quality of products used throughout the property.

Niall and Sarah have decorated Tanderlance beautifully, with modern art lining the walls. It feels like you are entering a gallery; staying in this fantastic location is an exceptional experience. Even with the great amenities that Tanderlane is home to, people are still left enamoured by the amiable dog that lives on the property.

Other relevant points on the property

Tandlerane has a tennis court on the property for your friends and family to spend hours playing. Whether used for entertainment or fitness, having such an excellent opportunity to play sport without leaving the grounds is a great feature.

The property has a large private drive to house all your vehicles safely so that you do not have to worry about paid parking or continuously moving your car. It may be considered a minor feature by some, but it is just another way that Tanderlane enables guests to relax and focus on enjoying their holiday entirely.

The village pub is only fifteen minutes away for guests who want to enjoy a stroll and a drink to reward themselves for it. It is a perfect way to spend an afternoon taking in the scenery and simultaneously sampling small villages in Scotland.

Surrounding Area

Haddington is the closest town to Tanderlane; with a rich history and fantastic shops and cafes, this is an excellent place for a day trip. With heavy links to the area's agricultural industry, it is a slice of civilisation within a rural area. Guests can also travel to Dumbar and East Linton to experience more towns in the immediate vicinity.

The capital of Scotland is the closest city to Tanderlane; it has everything you could want from a city. With a rich history and an exciting future, you will be spoilt for choice when deciding what to do with your time there.

Niall and Sarah’s Insider’s Guide to Tanderlane

Golf: Scotland is famous for the number of golf courses it's home to and their quality; the area around Tanderlane is no exception. With three great courses, Haddington Golf Club, Gifford Golf Club and Castle Park Golf Course, just a short distance from Tanderlane and many more only a car ride away, you will be spoilt for choice when deciding. Niall and Sarah would be pleased to offer their opinions for guests struggling to choose.

Walks: The best way to take in the beautiful scenery is by walking your way through the countryside. With many unique options, such as the Tyne River Walk, Haddington-Longniddry Railway Walk and many more, you can immerse yourself in the area while keeping fit.

Festivals: Taking place in September is the Lammermuir Festival, a delightful classic music event that will move your soul. Due to the location of Tanderlane, guests also have the option of taking part in the many festivals in Edinburgh, including the famous fringe.

Beaches: As a result of the fantastic geography of the area, you will be spoilt for choice when deciding where to lay your beach towel. Gullane, Tyninghame and Gosford Sands are tremendous options; Sarah and Niall would be happy to help you if you are stuck choosing.

Rosslyn Chapel: If you want to experience some history and culture on your travels, visit the stunning chapel founded in 1446. Its striking architecture is a sight to behold; you can have an incredibly informative tour that will illuminate the past of this beautiful chapel.

Niall and I have lived at the farmhouse for nearly twenty, happy years. Our three children have left home which is why we decided to open up our home to bed and breakfast guests. Niall is a passionate golfer and fisherman and I love people, art and cooking. I am happy to cook dinner for parties of six or more. I also love walking on our beautiful beaches and wild swimming in local lochs. In August, I spend a lot of time at the Edinburgh Festival, theatre and comedy are my particular favourites.
