North Berwick

North Berwick is a seaside town in the East Lothian region of Scotland. It is located approximately 27 miles (40 min) east of Edinburgh. North Berwick became a fashionable seaside resort in the 19th century because of its two sandy beaches. Today, East Bay and West Bay continue to attract vacationers. At the end of each bay is a golf course open to visitors.
The port of North Berwick was built in the 11th century, and for 500 years, a ship made the crossing to Earlsferry. This route was very popular with pilgrims traveling to St Andrews. This route has recently been reopened. During the summer, a boat runs from North Berwick to Anstruther in Fife, in tribute to the original ferry.
