John O'Groats

John O'Groats in Caithness, Scotland is famous for being the most northerly inhabited point on mainland Britain; it, with Land's End in Cornwall, makes the furthest apart inhabited points in Britain. Its remote location is a blessing to the town, as it is surrounded by a beautiful coastline. Historically, the location made for strong defenses against Vikings, and the area was littered with Castles and other historic buildings that can still be visited today. John O'groats is a must-see part of Britain and makes for one of the best stops on the North Coast 500.
