Banffshire

Banffshire, in Scottish Gaelic Siorrachd Bhanbh, is one of the lieutenancy regions of Scotland. The county remained predominantly Catholic after the Reformation and long suffered persecution and discrimination from Presbyterian Protestants.
The county seat is Banff, although the largest settlement is Buckie in the west. It borders Moray Firth to the north, Morayshire and Inverness-shire to the west and Aberdeenshire to the east and south.
