The Kelpies

Bannockburn

About

The 30-meter-high horse head sculptures weigh over 300 tonnes each. Designed by sculptor Andy Scott, they have become part of the iconic landscape in the area. Based on Clydesdale horses, Duke and Baron, The Kelpies represent Scottish industry, symbolising the horses that shaped the surrounding landscape, pulling barges, ploughs, and wagons.
The name "The Kelpies" derives from the mythological beasts, reflecting strength, a trait that closely links to the surrounding area.
The Kelpies are open to visitors any time of day, any time of year, and the sculptures are accessible for all. You can also book a tour that will take you inside the magnificent structures to witness this impressive example of Scottish engineering.
The community park includes 500km of cycle paths, a lagoon, a cafe, and a play area.
