About

Highland Folk Museum is also an open-air visitor attraction located in Newtonmore in Badenoch and Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands. It is owned by the Highland Council and managed by the High Life Highland. It was founded in 1935 by Dr. Isabel Frances Grant.
The museum is mainly composed of three areas, representing and explaining the Scottish Highlands' three independent eras. Pine Woods and following townships dominate the west side of the park in the 1700s. In comparison, the east side is an open-air area composed of architectural interpretations from the 19th to the middle of the 20th century and Aultlarie Croft from the 1930s. In the exhibition environment, each site is also explained by staff dressed up and performing highland performances. On certain days, the museum also displays highland life activities, such as weaving or rope making.
