About

St John's Castle, or St John's Castle, is a sixteenth-century L-shaped tower house in the center of Stranraer, in the Dumfries and Galloway district of southwest Scotland. It was built by the Adairs of Kilhilt around 1510 and was used as a house, court, prison, and military garrison in the 1680s. The castle was renovated in the 1980s and is now a museum.
