Easter Ross

Cromarty Firth and Cromarty Bridge

Easter Ross is the area North of Inverness that includes the Black Isle. Due to its excellent climate it is one of the most fertile agricultural areas in the Highlands - hence the quality barley that feeds some of the famous distilleries in the area - Dalmore, Glenmorangie and Balblair. It has many lovely coastal areas and charming coastal villages , including sandy beaches and rugged cliffs, The Black Isle Cromarty, Rosemarkie and Fortrose and Portmohomack to the east of Tain. Its unique history as the centre of the ancient Pictish Kingdom and home to some of Scotland's great art treasures - namely the Pictish cross-slabs of Nigg and Shandwick and other relics at Tarbert Discovery Centre in Portmohomack make it the perfect destination to visit.
