About

The cosy and intimate hotel set in the  Outer Hebrides welcomes those who wish to experience fine foods and finer company. The hotel, owned and operated by Isobel and Alan Graham, is ideally placed for exploring the Uists, Benbecula, Berneray and Eriskay with Barra only thirty-five minutes by ferry.

You could not wish for a more idyllic spot for your Hebridean adventure with Panoramic coastal views. Relax in the Inn's beautifully furnished interior while deciding where your next quest will take you.

About the Property

Constructed in the 80s with recent refurbishments, the modern building is both spacious and intimate, providing guests with the space to relax and reunite with loved ones in a beautiful property in a more spectacular location. Guests will be taken back by the sheer size of the interior; Orasay Inn houses a lounge where you can reside in comfort while taking in some of the most beautiful sunsets available.  Such is the beauty of the area that it is an attraction within itself.

With nine rooms within the hotel, there are many attractive options to experience all Orasay Inn offers.  Whether you are hiring out the whole hotel for a large party or taking up one room with great company and better food, your holiday will stay with you for a lifetime.

Other Relevant points about the property

Specialising in seafood but with options available for all preferences, Isobel Graham has been responsible for the excellent food produced at Orasay Inn for many years.  Daily home-cooked meals will highlight your days, with a glorious breakfast to fuel your adventures and an evening meal to end the night on a crescendo. It is all competitively priced and à la carte; you will be hard pushed to find anywhere else in the immediate vicinity with better service.

A quaint garden is a perfect spot to soak in your surroundings; whether it is with a coffee and the morning sun or something more substantial in the afternoon heat, you are sure to feel at one with nature while still residing on the property grounds.  There is seating on the decking through the French doors in the deluxe rooms, giving guests more privacy when enjoying nature.

Points about the surrounding area

As Orasay Inn is in the Outer Hebrides, the typical town is very hard to come across; the best option is Benbecula Airport for any guests wishing to visit an area akin to a town. This is in the “town” of Balivanich, the administrative centre of the Uists, Benbecula. Berneray and Eriksay. Here you will be able to find some restaurants and all of your emergency services.

Isobel and Alans Insider’s Guide to Orasay Inn

Boat trips: Boats are a massive part of getting around due to the geography of the location you are visiting. One such adventure you can achieve on a boat is a tour along the rugged coastline of South Uist. Beautiful scenery isn’t the only thing you will be seeing, with solid chances of seeing wildlife such as eagles, puffins, otters, whales and orcas!

Kildonan Museum: This heritage and cultural amenity museum is located 14 miles from Orasay Inn. You can arrange a guided tour to see all of what the museum has to offer; it is the best way to learn about South Uist's local history through the mediums of stories, artefacts and images.

Beaches:  The vast number of beaches around Orasay Inn will leave you spoilt for choice when deciding where to go. In Benbecula, you have Culla Bay and Liniclate. In North Uist, there is Hougharry, Hosta and Clachan Sands and the west coast of South Uist is virtually all beach. If you are stuck on where to visit, Alan and Isobel would be delighted to help you decide.

Nature Walks: For the guests who wish to take in the scenery on foot, a handful of superb walks would be well worth your time. On South Uist, there is Lochskipport to Hecla; for people who want more of a challenging ramble, you can start at Stoneybridge or Locheynort to Ben Mhor and then carry on to Corrodale if you are feeling particularly energetic.  You can consult Alan and Isobel if you cannot choose what to do.

RSPB Scotland Loch Druidibeg Nature Reserve: Made up of freshwater loch surrounded by moorland, peat bogs and pockets of woodland, this is a haven for wildlife throughout the year. You can see the richness of nature, from Golden Eagles to Cuckoos. You will be in awe of what Scotland has to offer.
