Receive a warm Scottish welcome at Newton of Fothringham Farm, a 4-star B&B awarded Gold for Green Tourism. We have a large, comfortable family room with en-suite in the main farmhouse (sleeps 2, with additional sofa bed), and a self-catering 3-bedroom cottage (sleeps 6, min. 2-night stay) available. Both have a calming country-themed décor, and are very well appointed; a travel cot, cotbed, camp bed, high chair, baby bath, changing mat & car booster seat are also available upon request. Just 2 miles from the A90, in the County of Angus, Newton of Fothringham is a working arable and livestock, tenanted, family-run farm, spanning approximately 600 acres. We have lots of animals for you to meet, including alpacas, goats, lambs, cows, hens, ducks & Lucy the micropig! We are also dog friendly. We are not a petting farm, but our animals are very sociable. We run a variety of family-friendly guided tours where you can experience the animals first-hand, offering an authentic glimpse at daily life on the farm. These change according to season and need to be pre-booked. We offer great discounts on our tours for visitors staying in our B&B (kids go free and a special adult rate, with the exception of our alpaca walking experience). There’s a lot to do in Angus – especially if you are looking for a uniquely Scottish experience. Situated in the heart of Scotland, Angus is the perfect base for wider exploration. Edinburgh, Aberdeen, St Andrews, and Dundee can all be reached within an hour by car. Closer to home, you have Carrot Hill, a gentle walk 30 minutes by foot from the farm, as well as the Angus Glens, a famous walking destination. The geography of Angus is exciting and varied: we are both 20-minutes’ drive from the sea, and 20-minutes’ drive from the glens! You don’t need to travel far to find adventure. The Angus countryside is peaceful and not at all touristy – a true hidden gem. The area is also home to Glams castle, the childhood residence of the Queen mother, and only 7 miles from Newton Farm. On your journey there you will pass a vodka distillery tour (there are lots of little breweries about.) From kayaking into the sea caves at Arbroath to enjoying a cool glass of Red Castle gin, Angus has something for everyone.
