The Private House Stay's Guide

Moray Firth

The Moray Firth is the area of the North Sea that is bordered in a big V between the North facing shoreline above Fraserburgh, Elgin and Nairn and the South-east facing coastline that stretches up to the most Northern point of the Scottish mainland at John O'Groats passing through Tain, Helmsdale and Wick. It is particularly famous for its coastline walks and the abundance of bird-life and sea-life in the Firth. The coastline is also dotted with Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age and Pictish ruins but also unfortunately with frequent noise from jet fighters that operate from RAF Lossiemouth.
