The Mash Tun is situated on the banks of the famous River Spey in the heart of the Malt Whisky Trail in the village of Aberlour. The Mash Tun is currently owned and run by Mark & Karen Braidwood, both of whom have a real passion for good food and whisky. This is reflected in the locally sourced and well presented food that is offered by the friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. As well as enjoying locally sourced food and whisky you can also stay in one of the five recently refurbished whisky themed rooms situated above the bar area. The comfortable and well appointed rooms are all named after local distilleries. Four Luxury Rooms, The Glenfarclas, The Glenfiddich, The Macallan and The Glenlivet, and also a Luxury Suite - The Aberlour, ensure your overnight accommodation is enhanced with a whisky theme. Beautifully decorated throughout these rooms are all en-suite and have tea and coffee making facilities as well as television. Free wireless internet access is also available. A roll top bath enhances The Glenlivet Room, and all rooms enjoy spectacular views over the River Spey. The Macallan Room, which follows the curve of the building, looks towards Easter Elchies House - the original home of The Macallan Malt Whisky. The Mash Tun is home to a wide and varied selection of whiskies, both single malts and blends, predominately from Speyside but also incorporating distilleries from the rest of Scotland. Included in this selection is the exclusive Glenfarclas Family Cask Collection. The Family Casks are a unique collection of 43 single cask whiskies, with one for each consecutive year from 1952 to 1994. The collection is unique as there is no other known collection of rare and old whiskies that covers 43 consecutive years from the same distillery. The Mash Tun is home to one of only three collections in the world that is on display and available to drink by the dram; the other two being Bar Nemo in Tokyo, Japan and The Malt Vault in Singapore.

The Private House Stay's Guide
Moray
Moray is the area that covers the area South of the Moray Firth between Aberdeenshire and Inverness City. It covers a good deal of the Northern part of the Whisky trail and includes the area of outstanding natural beauty that is found along the Spey valley. The main city within the area is Elgin with its famous and spectacular cathedral but the whole area is stunning and the Moray Firth coastline has a wild and inspiring atmosphere.
