The Scottish Fisheries Museum

East Neuk Villages

About

The Scottish Fisheries Museum is a museum in Anstruther, Fife. It records the history of the Scottish fishing industry and its people from the earliest to today. The museum opened in 1969 and is located in front of the harbor in Anstruther, in the center of the crab and lobster fishing village of East Neuk, St. Monan, Pittenwerme, Serade Gram, and creel. Over time, it has developed into a relatively large complex, occupying many remodeled buildings set around three sides of the cobblestone courtyard. These include two establishments classified as "A": the residence of Abbot in the 16th century and the residence of a merchant in the 18th century, both of which are historically connected to the village's fishing life.
