Pros: The Tolbooth Museum in Sanquhar is an 18th century jailhouse, converted to house a modern museum with audio visuals, exhibits on the history of the local area with its mining past, knitwear and links to the Crichton and Douglas families, as well as boasting a walk-in cell complete with former inhabitant still present (albeit a waxwork!Sanquhar also boasts the World\'s Oldest Working Post Office, the ruins of a Castle which sit on the path of the Southern Upland Way, plus neighbouring village Kirkconnel hosts a Heritage Centre where family history can be traced. The area is well worth a visit.
