J M Barrie, the ninth of ten children of a handloom weaver, and author of Peter Pan, was born here in 1860. The upper floor rooms are furnished as they may have been when Barrie lived there. See the imaginative exhibition about this famous novelist and dramatist with life-size figures, miniature stage sets, theatre posters and stage costumes. Dundee and Angus is an area of natural fertility and wealth generation that stretches back to the very earliest Scottish settlements as evidenced by the abundance of Pictish and otherother ancient sites that litter the area. Dundee's wealth was much built on the Jute trade as much as the productive farmland and today is the centre of many of Scotland's high-tech industries with the exposure to the North Sea giving a wonderful freshness to the atmosphere. The Angus Glens are also as beautiful as any part of the Cairngorms and pleasantly accessible and southern facing
