Situated roughly equidistant between Aberdeen and Inverness, Fochabers is a picturesque village not far from the banks of the River Spey. First opening its doors in 1984, the Fochabers Folk Museum hosts an impressive collection of carriages and a diverse selection of everyday objects that were commonplace in 19th and 20th Century Scotland. Children can experience life as a schoolchild in mid-19th Century Scotland in the Milne’s classroom, built to pay homage to Alexander Milne, a local man who made his fortune in America, but upon his death bequeathed a vast sum of money for the construction of a free school in Fochabers. The museum also features an exhibition concerning the nearby RAF Dallachy and the role it played during the Second World War, where it was host to several air force squadrons.
