Doune Castle is a formidable 14th century courtyard castle, built for the Regent Albany. The striking keep-gatehouse also combines domestic quarters including the splendid Lord\'s Hall with its carved oak screen, musicians\' gallery and double fireplace. Used as a film location for the BBC production of Ivanhoe and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Opening Times: Open all year, closed Thurs & Fri in winter Admission Prices: Adult £4.00; Child £2.00; Concession £3.00.

Falkirk itself has little to offer other than Callendar park and the extraordinary Falkirk Wheel whereas Stirling has much more to entertain the tourist with the slight drawback that many of its key attractions are spread out around the city and thus are easiest accessed by car
