Castle Campbell is dramatically situated above Dollar Glen and is a forbidding-looking 15th century fortress. The castle was the lowland stronghold of the senior branch of the powerful Campbell clan who were seldom far from the major political and religious events of 15th, 16th and 17th century Scotland. Opening Times: Open all year, closed Thurs & Fri in winter. Admission Prices:Adult £4.50; Child £2.25; Concession £3.50.

Falkirk itself has little to offer other than Callendar park and the extraordinary Falkirk Wheel whereas Stirling has much more to entertain the tourist with the slight drawback that many of its key attractions are spread out around the city and thus are easiest accessed by car
