The Belmont is Aberdeen's premier venue for arthouse, foreign, classic and quality mainstream cinema. Since opening in September 2000, the 3-screen independent picturehouse has been providing the people of North East Scotland with a wider variety of cinema choice than had been available previously. Equipped with all the latest sound systems, comfortable seating, kiosk and cafe-bar, The Belmont is a friendly alternative to the multiplex experience. Strong mainstream titles are shown alongside both popular and limited release foreign-language films, as well as remastered classics and reviews of older titles. Special seasons include the annual French and Italian Film Festivals, and events featuring Q&As with film directors or screenwriters. The fully licensed cafe-bar plays host to live bands, performance nights and a regular quiz, as well as providing a space for local art exhibitions.

The Private House Stay's Guide
Aberdeen
Scotland's third largest city has been thriving since the discovery of North Sea Oil. It has a closely packed city centre made up of dark granite buildings that can make it a overcast and gloomy place at times. However there is a charm and vitality about the city that is reflected in its restaurants and night-life. Union Street is the city's main artery and is a mile long and built on pillars. North-east of the city centre on the banks of the river Don stands the ancient suburb of Old Aberdeen with its fortified cathedral, cobbled streets and houses that date from the 15th Century.
