The Balmacara Estate is a diverse highland crofting estate of high nature conservation and cultural value. The land has been used for millennia, with the agricultural and woodland management of the last two centuries giving rise to a pleasing blend of built, farmed and natural environments in the landscape. Plockton and Kyle
In a sheltered Bay of Loch Carron on the North-western coastline stands the delightful village of Plockton. It is now a haven for artists and those seeking a romantic hideaway. The village is situated about 6 miles from Kyle of Lochalse and is the last stop before Kyle on the amazing railway line that crosses the grouse moors from Inverness. The train journey itself is a major highlight since the scenery that you gently pass through is breathtaking. Kyle itself is really just a railhead and used to be the main ferry port to Skye before the construction of the spectacular Skye Bridge.
