Experience the hospitality of Anthony and Jo Weld Forester, who have lived in the 19th Century Old Manse, as their family home for nearly 30 years. This comfortable home is full of charm and character with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Jo is a good cook and has a reputation for her delicious breakfasts, usually in the flower-filled conservatory; dinner is by prior arrangement. She uses fruits and vegetables out of the garden when possible and local produce. The fishman arrives each week from the East Coast with kippers and smoked haddock. Having lived in the area for so long, Jo can help you plan your day, whether it be cycling round Loch Katrine and on the many fine cycle tracks or going horse-riding nearby in the Queen Elizabeth forest, walking on well-marked scenic routes or perhaps going on cultural visits to Stirling Castle and the Great Houses. Gartmore is centrally placed – 20 mins. from Loch Lomond, 30 mins. from Stirling and 50 mins. from both Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports.

Inveraray and Fyne
Inveraray would come high up a list of places to stay if requiring a base from which to explore Argyll by road. It is the main intersection for the roads to Glasgow, Oban, and the Cowal and Kintyre Penninsulas and is an attractive place overlooking Loch Fyne just down the road from the famous Loch Fyne Oyster Bar. THe Castle and Jail in Inveraray are worth visiting and the town hosts good cultural and music festivals.
