The enclosed garden is ideal for picnics, sunbathing or just relaxing. With open access to the hills and to the extensive beaches, it is perfect as a base for hill and coastal walks, scenic drives, touring the highlands, and enjoying the wildlife. The numerous golf courses in the region are superb and include the world famous Dornoch Links Course, the loch and river fishing is varied and excellent, and the sea angling from boat or shore is well worth experiencing. The above can be arranged. To the west and southwest are the Tropical Gardens at Inverewe, the scenic splendour of Loch Maree and the picturesque fishing port of Ullapool with it's ferry link to Stornoway. Closer is Loch Shin and the famous Falls of Shin where salmon can be seen leaping at certain times of year. To the north is the Kyle of Tongue, Bettyhill, Naver Bay and a multitude of sandy coves set between rocky headlands. Little wonder Brora is such a popular base from which to tour this scenic part of the Highlands of Scotland.

The Private House Stay's Guide
East Sutherland
East Sutherland lies north of the Dornoch firth until the start of Caithness above Brora. The county also stetches westwards to Ullapool although its definition can be a bit confusing as most of it has a Inverness-shire postcode. The area has some good farming land as well as the usual beautiful highland scenery, dotted with whisky distilleries, lochs, rivers and mountains. Dornoch, Tain, Goldspie and Brora are all highland towns with their own interesting histories and culture. Dornoch has a world famous championship golf course, the bird watching and coastal scenery are spectacular and the Falls of Shin are also recommended for a visit.
