Redknowe was built in 1876 and is a solid red stone house on the edge of Campbeltown overlooking farmland. It is a 5 minutes walk from the town centre, very peaceful and quiet. It is also a 3 star with the Scottish Tourist Board .The Mull of Kintyre is at the end of the peninsula and is quite spectacular. Walk down to the lighthouse and on a clear day can see the houses on the shoreline in Ireland. The whole area is a haven for wildlife. Lots of migrating birds, all sorts of waterfowl, deer, otters, seals and even spot a Golden Eagle soaring or a school of dolphins playing in the surf. There are lots of beaches to explore and you could be here for a fortnight and go to a different one every day. A walk across to Davaar Island at low tide is
another great experience, as is climbing up Ben Ghuilean (Hill of the Shoulders). The view from the top is amazing, accompanied with sea, sand, hills and Glens there is plenty to keep you active. 2 Double rooms, one twin, one en-suite one private bathroom

I have selected the properties on Private House Stays for their individuality that results from being privately owned. They take many forms from bed and breakfasts to small hotels but in each case it is the marque of the owner that sets it apart. This may be the charm of the furnishings, the wholesome home cooking or simply the atmosphere created by a charismatic host. I have inspected most of the establishments listed here and feel sure you will enjoy staying in them too.
Remember - booking through Private House Stays is free of charge.
